Teaching Experience

  • Hanover Middle School Aug 2024-Jan 2025

I was hired to be the long term substitute art teacher at Hanover middle school. The school day ran from 7:40-2:55 Monay-Friday. I taught grades 5-8 I was able to create and present my own lessons. I saw students daily in rotations which lasted slightly longer then a month in time. While there I introduced new media and mediums to students including painting, pen and ink, collage and watercolor pencils. I was responsible for creating rubrics, maintaining and assigning  grades. On top of that, I also managed student behavior and was in contact with administration and parents. During my time there I was very proud of my students work and made multiple displays to show off their accomplishments.

  • Hempfield School District Aug 2023-Present

I embarked on my teaching career substituting. While there I follow lesson plans, enforce school policy, and manage student behavior across all grade levels.

  • Highland and Fulton Elementary Feb 20-April 13 2023

During my time in the Ephrata Area School District I was placed at both Highland and Fulton elementary schools with Cynthia Good as my co-op. I arrived at school at 7:30 AM and left school at 4:00 PM. Both schools are K-4 and run on a 6 day letter cycle. On A,B and half of C day we were at Fulton. In the second half of C day, D,E and F days we were at Highland. While there, I prepped and assisted with lessons, had daily AM and PM duties, and taught 5 of my own lessons. With Kindergarten I taught the painting color wheel and dinosaur paper doll project. 1st grade did a weaving with a clay top to create a wall hanging. 2nd grade did a collaborative identity collage project where students created a collage about a student from the other school. 3rd grade learned about their environment and created an ink blotting bug print about a bug native to PA. Finally, 4th grade did a one day collaborative lesson about exquisite corpses.

  • Twin Valley High School Jan 24-Mar 17 2023

During my time at Twin Valley High School I would arrive at 7:30 in the morning and leave at 3:00 in the Afternoon. My co-op was Addy Mckerns and we had three sections of classes. Our day started with AP portfolio art (a class of all seniors), then art one (a class of freshman) and finally art three (which ranged from sophomore to junior). While there, I assisted everyday with lessons and preparation, formed relationships with students and taught 5 of my own lessons. I started with AP art, where I taught a prompted project about freezing a moment in time through a postage stamp. In art one, I created a color value painting portrait project then a abstract sharpie shading project. With art three I taught them the technique of ink blotting and they created insects to use in a collaborative mobile. They also did a collage narrative project.

  • East Pete Elementary: Fall 2021

During my Early Field experience i was placed in the Hempfield School District and my co-op was Macy Bui, a graduate from KU a few years prior. I would go into the school on Thursdays and Fridays. The school teaches grades K-6 and runs on a 6 day cycle. In my time there, I formed relationships with students, I prepped materials, assisted lessons, gave demos and taught one of my own lesson to 6th grade. My lesson was based around artist Yayoi Kusama where students drew pumpkins from life and then painted them using a monochromatic color scheme and patterns similar to Kusama. Other lessons I assisted on were pinch pots, concrete leaf impression bowls, weaving, and collage. Outside of the classroom, I was involved with bus duty after school, and would help create displays to hang artwork in the hallways.
